Breaking Stuff and Taking Names

HOLY CRAPOLY I've been busy these last two days! From all the filming I got dine yesterday to all the editing and sending of clips and what not I've done the last 2 or three days I'm feeling quite accomplished. :D I got my collab footage filmed for NoBudgetTV yesterday, and since Tanya had the presence of mind about her to grab up a second camera to get the vlogger point of view on the whole endeavor, I decided to use it and go ahead and post a vlog on it. It's currently up on my channel if you haven't seen it yet. Not only was it exhausting to film all that and clean it all up, but it got us totally pumped to throw breakables at a brick wall. We ended up coming inside to cookies and hot coffee (it was cold out there!) and calming our adrenaline levels by hosting a two and a half hour blogtv live show.

Special thanks to everyone that showed up to our blogtv broadcast and made it really fun :D <333 Time to end this so I can get to work editing the footage to send to NoBudgetTV and after that I'm filming a contest video... unless Tanya and her rug-rats get home first... in which case I have a date with her kids to film a special Christmas Present for Ace77man and Stuntman Luke :D I can't say too much about it before I upload it... it's gotta be a surprise :D

Take care, Disillusionates :D

Vloggity Vlog Calls for Help / Action / and stuff

RAWR! I hate asking for things of others. Loathe it, even. Wait... aren't they the same thing? Mehh... I need a background for a parody that I'm putting together. Okay... there's no super-secret project-ness here, I'm doing a parody of Ray William Johnson's show =3.

**side note... I just love how everyone calls it "Equals Three" (even Ray) but that emoticon is actually balls :D **

I could easily find a web image of it, copy it, photo-shop it a bit (which makes it mine once it's altered) then green screen it into my footage... but WHY?? Pardon the upcoming terminology, but if my parody isn't going to be completely "fake and gay" I need to do MY version of the show, and alter / exaggerate / spoof EVERYTHING in it. I thought this would be a great opportunity to get my subscribers involved! :D

The three videos that I will be reviewing in my spoof were all submitted to me by or made by my subscribers, so why shouldn't some of the set include them, too? Simple, if they're all down for it, it TOTALLY should!

What I've asked for in this video is some viewer artwork-- specifically torn out coloring book pages that have either been colored by a viewer or a viewer's child. I will also use original art if anyone wants to send some to me. Don't get the wrong idea... I'm not talking about an oil painting of "Yo Couch" that we're all supposed to f*ck, or even a watercolor of Antione Dodson telling off the rapist in Lincoln Park... Stick figures, construction paper shapes glued down, some rough sketch of something... it doesn't matter. And if Junior wants to draw a smiley face with his fat crayons and washable markers and send it on over, I will proudly display it in my parody and most likely in a future video :D

If I get enough artwork / coloring book pages for the background, then FANTASTIC! If not, then I will still feature them in upcoming videos and link up the art with a click-able linked annotation and a link in the description box ("The Jeans"). Maybe I'll make that feature a new little segment called "The Refrigerator" or something like that, and actually put the artwork on the fridge and take a still of it to show. I'm still developing that idea, so don't call it corny just yet. :P

I'm forever looking for ways to get everyone involved here, and trying to make my channel as interactive and subscriber-friendly as possible. That's what fuels my channel after all... viewer interaction. Really that's what got me started making and posting videos in the first place... a way to start a conversation with a new person to get to know. I am, after all, a social creature... so one should expect nothing less from my content I suppose.

Oh, and a little thank you to everyone who has sent me videos to look over and review :D I've got a little list that I'm pulling from, and I may change up the review show depending on how my RWJ parody goes over... I'm always trying to give my subscribers what they want to see, while still making videos that are fun for me to do... it's a tough balance sometimes, but I'm getting the hang of it. Evolution ftw!

Preparations and Trepidations

So here I sit in front of my computer again... but this time I'm preparing to film a contest entry video. I'm a little nervous about it, as I'm concerned it may not live up to the contest-makers' expectations (their channel is pretty epic if you have a wry sense of humor like I sometimes do). I need curly hair for this one, and am too short on funds to just go buy a wig... so I'm going to have to come up with curly locks on my own. My hair is still wet, as I've just finished my shower, and I'm weighing the options I have. I can either put it up in rollers and wait several hours for it to dry (possibly waiting until tomorrow) or I can section it off into a million sections after it's dry and burn the crap out of every strand with a curling iron. **sigh** I'm just not sure whether speed here is worth the tradeoff of damage to my hair. The ends are already fried, and I am in dire need of a haircut. Bah!

Next week, beginning Monday, I will be reorganizing my hard drive (again) and setting up a schedule for production for my channels. My secondary channel is easy... it's for vlogs and video responses. I plan to start posting daily vlogs on January 1st... so I really do need to set aside some time for that each day. Those will most likely be direct uploads, as when I sit down to edit I can't just put in a title and some music... I have to fully produce a work once I get started on it. This is what causes the clock and I to fight so often. I'm just so bent on making every video as good as I can possibly make it that I spend what some would say is too much time on the editing process.

Let me break it down like this... for every one minute of footage you see on my channel, an hour of editing went into it. Nevermind render and upload times (which have been ridiculous lately)... I'm just talking editing. For example... the last morning review I posted was a little over three minutes long. I included chroma keying effects, a motion background, mixed music for it, included graphics, and inserted two video examples at the end to turn into clickable links. I had to track and record all the music samples, download links, license links, permission to commercialize via webcast links... RARR!! When I was ready to render it I had 3 audio layers, 4 video layers, and 2 graphics layers for a total of 9 layers in the project file. It took my computer 42 minutes to render that, and then took me just under an hour to upload it. Altogether, I spent 4 hours editing and 2 hours processing and posting it.

All that for a three minute video!?! I've thought about just going back to the shower curtain background to save myself some time, but I recieved the recommendation from another YouTuber that reviewed my channel to stick with one style of video-making... so chroma it is I suppose. I want to put my best foot forward for my viewers with each and every video, so I do my best hope it's good enough.

Now I know that I don't have explosions or fireballs or any of that cool what-not in my videos. I'm missing a key software package... Adobe AfterEffects cs5. Unfortunately, I haven't the $1000 it takes to purchase it, so it limits my post-production effects to what I can muster out of Sony Vegas. In turn, this limits the types of content coming out of my channel. I have 6 pages in my idea book filled with skits that i need that program for. However, I don't make the kind of money everyone assumes that I make, so it's quite out of my reach at the moment.

I'm not mad though. I make due with what I have, I make it fun even though it's a LOT of work to put in what I expect to get out, and the comment section tells me who likes the product and who even watched it for real. As long as I'm getting feedback from my friends and other viewers, I've gotten what I needed from the endeavor, and it was all completely worth-while.

Until next time. Feel free to comment and follow my blog. I'm scheduling in a bit of blogging time every day, too, so there will usually be something new here that's not in my videos. Love you guys!

SHINIES! --Starbuck Sez Episode 15

I'm such a baddie, opening Christmas gifts early! But this one seriously distracted me... it's sooo shiny that I actually tripped once on my way past it because I was looking at it rather than watching where I was going. :P That sounds silly and all, but the Christmas tree is right by my bedroom door, so had I not put my hands out to stop myself I would have slammed my forehead on the door frame... and let me tell ya: it would most likely have left a mark!

So, I opened the gift early. Safety first!

Pure Michigan: BAHAHAHA!!!

I found this video last night, and my sincerest apologies that getting my review posted happened so late. With all the Project4Awesome videos being uploaded today I actually spent over 4 hours trying to get this to upload!

I've not only shared a funny video for you guys, but there is a channel update and some news about a collab channel that Sarah Bull and KD Howell are trying to get off the ground. Please be sure to check them out if music and skit-work is content you like to watch on YouTube.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Squashed Creativity

Uggh... I haven't posted any review videos for a few days, and to be honest I am feeling some trepidation about posting original content, as I am limited on the graphics I can show. Celebrity pictures? A picture of some ice cream that I've photo-shopped into a funky color? What exactly is it going to take for YouTube to shut down my channel? It seems to me that LOTS of bigger you-tubers have all this slack they're allowed where content is concerned, and that smaller ones are put under heavy scrutiny until we learn the ropes. It makes sense to me why it has to be done that way... but still... it's giving me a complex. I'm paranoid about it.

Perhaps I should just buck up and rebuild that Y-CARE episode that I deleted (which requires re-filming, since I got mad and had a tantrum like a child about it and deleted it from my hard drive completely) and get back to posting them once a week... graphics be damned

What do you guys think? Morning Review an okay thing? Y-CARE Tops? Parodies? Music? Skits? Collab projects? Tutorials? Vlogs? I love to do all these things. I'm interested to know which appeal most to y'all, since you guys are the ones watching the stuff. I'm going to have fun making whatever. Just looking for a little feedback here I think.
